Under Section 125, employee pre-tax premium contributions are not considered taxable income. As a result, your total taxable payroll is reduced, directly lowering your payroll-related taxes. Because your employees have reduced their taxable income, they pay less in federal, state, Social Security and Medicare taxes and they can actually increase their take-home pay.
You don’t need to worry about handling the administrative aspects of a Pre-Tax Premium plan, UnitedHealthcare will handle it for you and will provide you with the necessary legal documents and filings required under Section 125. The following services are included in our Pre-Tax Premium plan.

Flexible spending accounts (FSAs), can help your employees save on out-of-pocket expenses not covered under most benefit plans. These expenses include deductibles, coinsurance, copays, prescription drugs, eyeglasses, day care services, and privately owned insurance policies.
When you add an FSA plan to your existing benefit package, your employees will be able to set aside portions of their salaries before taxes are calculated. This reduces employees’ taxable income, meaning they will pay less in taxes and end up with more money in their pockets.
The money set aside is automatically deducted from their paychecks and credited to their flexible spending accounts. As employees incur qualified expenses, they simply submit them to UnitedHealthcare and reimbursements are made from the plan.

You also can see a dentist outside of our network if you like, only at higher out-of-pocket expenses. The only time you have to submit a claim is if you visit a non-network dentist. Simply pay for the service, and then submit a completed claim form to UnitedHealthcare. We will reimburse you once you’ve met your deductible.
Non-network plan payments are usually based on Reasonable & Customary fees. If your dentist charges more than the amount allowable by your plan, you will pay the difference, in addition to your coinsurance amount.
With Consumer MaxMultiplier, UnitedHealthcare Dental awards you for getting preventive and diagnostic dental care. Your awards are funds for your dental care that accumulate, can be carried over each year, and are there when you need them.
We’ll even give you awards for claims you file up to 180 days after the benefit period ends. And if you don’t submit any claims during the benefit period, although you are not awarded any funds, you don’t lose any of your previously accumulated award balance.
You can use your awards for both network or out-of-network claims. However, you cannot use your awards for orthodontic services. Claims are submitted as any claim would be for dental services. Your awards will automatically fund any claims for dental services up to the amount you have in your balance – when you go over your original benefit period maximum.† Once the next benefit period begins, any leftover awards balance carries over into the next benefit period.
† Funds are not physical. They cannot be accessed or withdrawn by the member. Funds are automatically distributed by UnitedHealthcare Dental when the member utilizes the plan and exceeds the benefit period plan maximum.
